Rajasthan Festival Camps
A festival a day - that's India !! This is more true in Rajasthan than in any other part of India.
Set against the stark desert sands, the incredibly colourful festivals of Rajasthan, epitomize the spirit and strength of character of the people of Rajasthan. Watching the sea of colourfully dressed Rajasthani belles, chaperoned by weather beaten Rajasthani men with their nine yard vibrantly coloured turbans, takes you to a land of make belief, and kings and queens of yesteryear.
Usually, every festival is a development from some great religious activities and pilgrimage.
The famous animal fairs of Rajasthan are a mind boggling treat, that inspire awe and very often curiosity. Perhaps it is only here that there is a concentration of tens and thousands of camels, cattle, sheep and horses etc. on one particular day. Trading is brisk and energetic. Negotiations are carried over burning bonfires, cups of tea and chapattis - the Indian bread.
The great fair lends an aura of a festival. You find ferrous wheels, village theatre, music and dancing and of course the special 'Dal Batti' of Rajasthan.
Walking through these festive gatherings is itself an experience, a discovery of the life, the style, the traditions and the cultures of the various communities and tribes of this area.
A collectors delight - the colourful market also offers local textiles, dresses, bells, toys, sequined slippers, along with 'lac' and precious stone jewellery.
We offer deluxe tented camps, set up specially for these fairs, in the heart of the country, away from the tourist circuit. A visit here is one of rich experience and discovery.
The camps are comfortable, with all modern amenities. Each tent has two beds, wall to wall carpets, attached toilets, running hot and cold showers. Also, there are proper dining arrangement, including sit down facilities offering Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisines.
Evenings under the stars with dances around a bonfire, completes this out of the world experience. Experience the vibrancy and colours of the festivals of Rajasthan. This is an experience with the living cultures of India, in its most colourful hue.
